These braces have a built-in clip to hold the wire in place, so you don’t need an elastic or metal tie. As we move through the different sizes or wires, the wires guide the teeth into their ideal position.
They are small metal brackets that are bonded to your teeth. We have aesthetic clear/translucent braces for front teeth as well.
The length of treatment depends on multiple factors such as the complexity of your case and how well you wear your elastics.
We see our braces patients usually every 4-6 weeks. At each appointment the doctor adjusts your wires or brackets.
You should have elastics in 24/7 and only take them out to eat and to clean your teeth. Elastics also lose their force after a couple of hours so we recommend changing them 4x/day (usually after each meal + before bed).
Brush your teeth normally but pay special attention to getting all around the brackets, particularly up near the gums. You should also floss once a day using either superfloss designed specifically for braces or a floss threader that can be used with any regular floss.
Yes, we will give you a list of foods to avoid. Generally, anything too hard can knock the braces off and anything too sticky can pull them off.
